What is Love ?
I/we chose Modern Romance as our book and for the topic we chose love. Love is such a common topic that is talked about and has been talked about for centuries. I think exploring the topic is going to be quite challenging although some would argue otherwise. Love can mean something completely different to two sets of people. Furthermore, love can be analyzed differently depending on who we are referring to. The love a person feels for their spouse can be different than the love they feel towards their friend, or parent. Is it really different though? Is the root of love the same and the way we manifest it towards individuals just differently? Last semester I took an intro to psychology course and one of the things we discussed was love. How the feeling of love can be like an addiction and the chemistry in your brain actually changes for people who are in love. If this is taken into consideration then there really must be different types of love for the feelings I have for my husband are not closely compared to the feeling of love I have for my brother. As far as previous experience or knowledge of love I have been with my husband for ten years and I indeed still love him. Although, my answer may vary depending on the day. I have never researched this topic in depth so I’m interested to see what comes out of this. As far as the how the topic of love is researched, talked about, written about, or viewed in a discourse community I have no clue. What exactly is a discourse community ? I have no clue either. Hopefully, academic Gods willing, I will find out soon or hopefully by the end of this semester. Although I hope it's sooner than later.
God speed.
